Put Dot in Google's email - gmail

Gmail ignore dots . as characters within a username. This way, you can add and remove dots to your username and change your email id.
Thus your.username@gmail.com, yourusername@gmail.com, YourUsername@gmail.com and y.o.u.r.u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are same and delivered to the same inbox, since the characters in the username are the same.
Gmail usernames are case insensitive, so it doesn't matter if you enter upper case or lower case letters.

Gmail reject hyphens - and underscores _ in email address.

When you log in to Gmail, you need to enter any dots that were originally defined as part of your username.

Although gmail says it does not recognize the dot in the email id, it is still not a great feature. I signed up with firstnamedotlastnameatgmaildotcom and somebody signed up with firstnamelastnamegmaildotcom(no dot in it), and I keep receiving emails for that guy and I am sure he is receiving my emails too...crazy part is that guy is not willing to co-operate....
